active feet - PODIATRY TIP

By Rick Osler, Podiatrist. Lifecare Prahran Sports Medicine

In order to assist your preparation for the 2009 Gatorade Triathlon Series, I will be providing a series of tips to hopefully assist in your preparation and maximize your enjoyment.

BLISTERS!

Blisters are the result of ‘shear’ stress, caused by excessive movement within the shoe. They are often caused by a poor shoe fit (length and/or width), poor sock choice, and too much or too little support through the shoes midsole (the foam part that gives you control and cushioning within the shoe). The most common place for blistering is towards the end of the foot’s arch, just before the ball of the foot.

Dredging

The dredging of Port Phillip Bay came to an end on Sunday AUgust 31st, 2009.

SuperSprint has had a representative included in the Channel Deepening Liaison Group which has conducted regular meetings throughout the year.

After more than a year of dredging, works have been carried out with minimal disruptions to users of the Bay. Mr Broadford (CEO of Port of Melbourne Corporation) said "... the beaches are in good shape and there has been no significant effects on tides, currents and marine life."

Engine

Engine

Engine refers to the 'driving force' our product wishes to assume. Engine is the inner source of energy that every individual draws power from to drive performance. The Engine is where it all starts and finishes - the source of power. We like to think of our product like athletes think of themselves: a finely tuned and developed tool for proclaiming peak performance. Just like an athlete spending countless years of effort to peak on a few special occasions, we at Engine have spent years honing our products into the ultimate swimming technology.
