Perth
Race Director's Report
The perfect triathlon venue turned on perfect weather today as Perth played hosted to Race 2 of the NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series 2009.
The majestic Swan River and the picturesque Perth skyline were ideal backdrops for the event that is fast becoming a staple of W.A.’s insatiable sporting diet.
Clear blue skies and the lush green grass blanketing the heritage listed Langley Park were a welcome reprieve from the stormy skies & smoke haze currently overwhelming sun-burnt Melbourne – the Perth locals taking full advantage with some rather impressive racing. Calibre Team 1, DET, A Team and Broadbuilt took out the Male, Female, Mixed & Informal MAIN Race categories, whilst Ava Go WP, FLOPS, SKM3 and Internet Ground Team did likewise in the SPRINT event, overcoming their rivals to record notable wins.
The economic downturn and the admissions of the federal treasurer that yes, we are in that recession, did little to dampen the spirits of those taking part or supporting from the la-di-da corporate marquees surrounding the venue. The boisterous support crew behind RPS the best of the lot, ensuring their colleagues took home the ‘Corporate Colours’ for 2009!
The next stop of this ever popular series is Adelaide, shortly followed by Sydney and finally Gold Coast to wrap up yet another year of corporate sporting adversary.
Congratulations to all of today’s participants, spectators and volunteers. As always the team at SuperSprint thoroughly enjoyed bringing the NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series to the West.
See you again in 2010!
