Hi  ,

After a successful inaugural ride last year with Sarah Ulmer, the SUB Women's Cycle Challenge – St Kilda is back again on Sat 6th Dec 2008!

SuperSprint is proud to be organising the event again with Major Sponsors SUB - Sarah Ulmer Brand. SUB was established by New Zealand Olympic and Commonwealth Gold Medallist Sarah Ulmer. SUB owns a range of women's bikes, sporting wear and actively support cycling events.

A women’s only recreational cycling event designed with all standards of cyclists in mind from beginners through to Beach Road regulars. The event aims to promote a healthylifestyle to the broader female community and encourage women to experience and enjoy recreational cycling. With the course taking in some of Melbourne's most picturesque cycling routes, now’s your chance to join other female cyclists in a well managed and safe environment and give it a go!

Sarah Ulmer will be at event to welcome all riders in what will make up an action packed “Girls” Weekend in St Kilda, with the ride preceding the Sussan Women's Fun Run on Sunday 7th December.

Izabela's New Zealand SUB Ride Experience

Izabela

My name is Izabela. I am the lucky winner from last years SUB event of the trip to Auckland, NZ, to ride with Sarah Ulmer, Olympic Gold Medallist and Event Ambassador.

The excitement began with an awesome ride in St. Kilda in December last year. During the presentation of fantastic random prices to participants, I heard my bib number being called out and I was soooo excited! I had never been to New Zealand! How good was that!

Amy Gillett Foundation

AGF

The Amy Gillett Foundation is delighted to be associated with the SUB Women’s Cycle Challenge – St Kilda. Established in 2006, the AGF is working hard to reduce death and injury between cars and bicycles on our roads. The need for safe and responsible road use and shared respect by both cyclists and motorists is becoming paramount.

There are simple (courteous) things we can all do to ensure we’re safe together:

  • Cyclists - indicating your intention to merge into traffic and ensuring you’ve got lights on your bike
  • Motorists - checking mirrors before opening the car door and allowing at least 1m clearance when overtaking a cyclist.

Everyone has a role to play to ensure shared respect on our roads and the AGF thank you for playing your part when you’re out riding.
