Event Day Report
Perfect weather greeted participants in the 2XU Great Ocean & Otway Classic Ride 2009 today. A steady stream of riders donning the official event jersey, were sent off from Elephant Reserve in Torquay as they eagerly awaited their turn to cycle on one of Australia’s most sensational courses. The breathtaking views along the Great Ocean Road were the highlight for cyclists, as too the descent into Lorne. Riders appreciated the safety provisions that were implemented to reduce the risk of any falls or other problems. The Lorne refreshment station located at the Surf Club was well received by cyclists as they refueled for the journey back to Torquay. On course mechanical support, provided by SRAM and CBD Cycles were kept busy attending to a wide range of problems. Cyclists were welcomed back to Elephant Reserve with a festival atmosphere, including a band, random spot prizes, massage, refreshments, and participant showbag full of goodies! Congratulations to all participants, we hope you enjoyed your ride experience!! |

Rogue Riders

Unfortunately some members of the cycling community continue to jeorpardise the safety, well being and enjoyment of the registered riders by riding the course. Next year, much stricter and enforceable steps will be implemented to remove unregistered riders from the course. |
