Courtesy of SRAM, SuperSprint is pleased to welcome back to the Series the SRAM Mechanical support which will be available in the cycle leg at all races, including a pit stop and mobile support to assist all riders with mechanical difficulties.
Pit Stop for Race 1 will be located at Pier Road South, near the St Kilda Sea Baths.
This service will be provided to assist all participants to fulfil their objectives of completing the course and enjoying the race. Please note that under the rules of triathlon if participants receive outside assistance they will not be eligible for category awards.
SuperSprint Schools Cup
The introduction of the SuperSprint Schools Cup last season proved successful with friendly competition from schools such as Xavier College, Haileybury College and Penleigh & Essendon Grammar. We are pleased to bring this back again for the 2008/09 Series, and tie in with the growth of triathlon as a sport, evidenced by the number of school, corporate and sporting teams represented in the Gatorade and Brooks Series each year.
All Schools are invited to participate! You'll need to arrange 20 or more students into one of the races to be eligible for a discounted entry fee.
For group entry queries and discounted schools entry procedures, please contact SuperSprint on (03) 9596 2340 or info@supersprint.com.au

Club Tents
Club Tents
Each event, Triathlon Clubs are given the opportunity to provide their members with a place to prepare, relax, recover and debrief! A limited number of club tent sites are available at each venue - contact info@supersprint.com.au for an application form.
Optional Race Cancellation Refund Levy
SuperSprint provides competitors with the option of paying a levy to secure a refund of their entry fee in the unlikely situation of event cancellation by SuperSprint. In the case of nearly all triathlon events around the world, if the event is cancelled on the race weekend, competitors are not entitled to a refund, as the event costs are similar regardless of whether the event goes ahead.
To opt for the levy, select "Race Cancellation Refund Levy" during the online entry process. You will then be prompted for your payment details.
Race cancellation refund levies for the Gatorade Triathlon Series and Brooks Fun Tri are available up to nine days before an event takes place, by 5pm on the Friday a week prior to the event. The cost is $10 for all Gatorade events and $6 for the Brooks Fun Tri.
Please note that event cancellation is not because you cannot attend an event.
Marshal Group Fundraising
Do you belong to a club? Then why not get a group together and marshal at a SuperSprint event to help your club fundraising!
For each marshal that your Club / Group can provide, SuperSprint will pay a fee which goes directly towards your fundraising. All marshals will also receive an Event Show Bag with food and drinks for the morning along with sponsor products. Marshal duties usually involve assisting with registration, finish line, show bags, pedestrian crossings, drink stations and course marshalling. This can be a fantastic opportunity to help raise some funds for your club, so if you are part of a Club or Group, or know of a group that might be interested in these opportunities, please contact our Operations Manager, Sam Walker on (03) 9596 2340 or sam.walker@supersprint.com.au.

Channel Deepening Project Update

Channel Deepening Project - No major dredging in south of bay over summer
SuperSprint have a representative included in the Channel Deepening Liaison Group which has conducted regular meetings throughout the year.
As announced by Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC) in October 2008, for a period of three months there are no major dredging works scheduled for the south of the bay. This will eliminate potential disruption to tourism and bay users in a peak holiday period.
It has always been PoMC’s intention to not dredge in the south of bay in recognition of the peak holiday period. This was established in the projects Environmental Management Plan which states dredging in the south is not permitted between 18 December and 31 January.
For more information on the Channel Deepening Project please visit www.channelproject.com or call toll free on 1800 731 022.

active feet Podiatry Tip
![]()
By Rick Osler, Podiatrist
BLISTERS!
Blisters are the result of ‘shear’ stress, caused by excessive movement within the shoe. They are often caused by a poor shoe fit, and too much or too little support through the shoes midsole. The most common place for blistering is towards the end of the foot’s arch.
Solution: Use ‘barrier’ cream on blister prone areas pre race, purchase a quality run sock, and check your shoes at active feet. If you blister in the arch, then cut out the folded section of the sockliner, leaving a flat base. This flappy arch part will not make a difference to your shoe, but guarantees blister free running!
