Perth Wrap Up

Langley Park provided the perfect triathlon venue and turned on perfect weather when Perth played hosted to Race 2 of the NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series 2009.

The majestic Swan River and the picturesque Perth skyline were ideal backdrops.

Clear blue skies and the lush green grass blanketing the heritage listed Langley Park were a welcome reprieve from the stormy skies & smoke haze currently overwhelming sun-burnt Melbourne with the Perth locals taking full advantage with some rather impressive racing.

Bike Insurance

Bike

Competitors are advised to be covered by own Bike Insurance

The Triathlon Australia (TA) event insurance does not cover for equipment in the bike compound. It is the event organisers responsibility to have a secure bike compound, but the event organisers are not liable for equipment stolen or damaged in the compound.

Whilst SuperSprint will endeavor to protect your property, it is strongly recommended that competitors, especially those who own expensive bikes, seek insurance that covers their bike for 12 months for damage and theft, including travel, and in training and competition.

At the same time, SuperSprint will do its up most to provide the best possible security for all competitors.

Gold Coast Information

Gold Coast Traffic Management

GC

SuperSprint have finalised details with the Gold Coast City Council and Queensland Transport regarding the implementation of a traffic management plan that will alleviate the traffic congestion experienced by some competitors when leaving the 2008 event.

SuperSprint have arranged for the traffic lights sequence to be extended at the Gold Coast Hwy to permit a greater flow of traffic off The Spit.

Official Event Charity - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

JDRF

Thomas Pitman

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the official charity partner for this year’s series and you have the opportunity to support JDRF when you register for the event.

JDRF raises funds for medical research to find a cure for type 1 diabetes, a disease impacting over 140,000 people in Australia.

Over 2000 new cases are diagnosed every year; many of these are in young children. Whilst people with type 1 diabetes have to inject themselves with insulin up to 8 times a day, insulin is NOT a cure, merely a means of staying alive.

Even with insulin, people with type 1 diabetes face a lifelong risk of health complications such as blindness, kidney failure, heart disease and limb amputation.

Your support will help find the cure.  Thank you.

Terra Firma

TerraFirma

With three events down and 2 to go the office banter is still high and the competitive spirit is hot. The bookies have had a hard time with the favourites not living up to their self set expectations. Adelaide proved to be another great day with some outstanding personal performances and plenty of brotherly rivalry.  Fitness levels were tested, with the realisation by some team members that they are not as young as their brain thinks they are.  The current focus of attention has turned to Sydney with swim leg being a much discussed topic. Team rivalry is currently being over shadowed by talk of the presence of sharks in the harbour and cattle prods in the rescue boats. We are all praying that the cattle prods do not have to be used mainly for the fact that water is a great conductor of electricity and when the prod hits the water everyone in will know about it.  Training for the other two legs of the event are coming along well and all teams are looking forward to another fantastic day. Our Queensland teams are training hard for the last event on the calendar.  Our female team is in fine form and are currently odds on favourites to lead the Terra Firma charge. We hope everyone you all Happy training and see you all in Sydney.
