Welcome to the first newsletter of the NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series 2009. SuperSprint are excited to have new co-naming rights sponsor, Nissan Sports Adventure, this year as another throng of 15,000 competitors from around Australia get set to don their corporate colours.

For 22 years the series has brought the corporate world together to participate in these challenging and exciting team events around Australia.

This year sees the introduction of some great new series features such as two preferred uniform suppliers, courier race kit option for Gold Coast teams, and an upgraded user-friendly online entry system.

New Online Entry System and Website Updates

The new online entry system and website updates were launched in September 2008.

Enhancements:

- ’Latest News’ section on the homepage
- Improved and user friendly online entry system
- Advanced secure online payment system
- Clear and easy to navigate website

 

For this years NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series, the online entry process will be easy to follow and user friendly. There will also be no need for the email ballot for Melbourne teams as per 2008.

Details on the team entry process, online profiles and team captain’s role will be comprehensively outlined in the next e-newsletter on November 11, as well as posted on our website.

It is recommended that each company organise willing participants into groups of 3 in preparation for the online entries. We suggest you collect details such as Name, Email, Postal Address, Phone Number, Emergency Contact Details, Date of Birth and T-shirt Size.

Secure Team Entries with a Team Uniform by 2XU or Scody

SuperSprint in conjunction with 2XU and Scody, the preferred uniform suppliers for the NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series, are pleased to present Corporate Series participants with the opportunity to order high quality 2XU Custom Spec and Scody team uniforms.

Companies ordering uniforms from either of the preferred supplier in any race of the National Series will secure guaranteed entries for those teams*.

With two preferred suppliers, teams will have their uniforms delivered early enough for promotion and training leading up to the event.

Race Formats

 

Main Team Entries

Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth & Gold Coast

Teams consist of three members with the race run in a relay format. Each team member completes all three legs of the triathlon in succession, i.e. Team Member 1 completes the swim, ride and run before passing the timing band to Team Member 2 in the team transition area, who completes the course and passes the timing band to Team Member 3, who completes the course and crosses the finish line.

Sydney

Due to course restrictions all three team members start together in the same wave. All team members complete all legs of the triathlon and times are added together for an overall team aggregate time.

Sprint Team Entries

Adelaide and Perth only

Teams of three compete in a relay format with one team member completing the swim, one completing the ride and one completing the run, passing the timing band to each member at the completion of their leg. Times for each leg are added together for an overall team aggregate time.

Monday 11th November

The second newsletter for the NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series 2009 will be distributed and a link for the newsletter placed on SuperSprint website. The newsletter will include information regarding online entry details on SuperSprint’s new user-friendly secure online entry system.

Friday 21st November

Deadline for Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide teams to place team uniform order with 2XU or Scody to guarantee their team entry (subject to field limits)

Tuesday 25th November 9am - 5pm

2XU/Scody uniform entries open. 50% Rule entries also open for Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide teams who competed in 2008. All 50% Rule Entries will be strictly monitored.

Thursday 27th November 9am

General entries open online for Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide. Please be aware that entries fill up fast so enter early to avoid disappointment.

Official Event Charity - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the official charity partner for this year’s series and you have the opportunity to support JDRF when you register for the event.

JDRF raises funds for medical research to find a cure for type 1 diabetes, a disease impacting over 140,000 people in Australia.

Over 2000 new cases are diagnosed every year; many of these are in young children. Whilst people with type 1 diabetes have to inject themselves with insulin up to 8 times a day, insulin is NOT a cure, merely a means of staying alive.

Even with insulin, people with type 1 diabetes face a lifelong risk of health complications such as blindness, kidney failure, heart disease and limb amputation.

Environmental Tip and What's On

Share the sun with your roses!

Roses need at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. In shaded parts of the gardens,  they dry slowly after rain and dewy nights and are more likely to attract fungal diseases. Like us, roses also need nutrients to survive. Potassium, in particular, helps roses resist pests and diseases.
