You MUST wear your event bib and wristband (received in your race kit) to receive support. Ambulance CoverIt is strongly recommended that participants have ambulance cover – ambulances will be in attendance at the event, however if you require transport by ambulance you will be charged for this service InsuranceThe Degani Kinglake Ride is covered by public liability insurance but this does not cover accidents caused by individuals or other riders. It is therefore worth having personal accident insurance (Cycling Australia, Bicycle Australia, Triathlon Australia) or top medical cover along with ambulance cover. |

The on course support is provided by the SRAM Neutral Ride Support program. The same mechanics that provide the SRAM Neutral Race Support at some of Australia’s leading cycling races will be giving you the ProTour treatment; mobile tech support; whether you puncture, break a chain or generally need your gears tweaked you can rest assured you will be in fantastic hands. It is recommended that all riders have their bike serviced prior to the event as well. Two SRAM Wagons and Two SRAM scooters will be patrolling the course assisting any riders in need. Cyclists in the Degani Kinglake Ride will receive this fantastic support from SRAM who began with the goal of creating the absolute best shifting system and changed the cycling world forever with the introduction of Grip Shift over 20 years ago.... Now SRAM RED has won the Giro d’Italia! You MUST wear your event bib and wristband (received in your race kit) to receive support. |
Michael Forbes Fundraiser
In June 2008, Michael Forbes - a dedicated father, IT professional and competitive cyclist / triathlete – was involved in a serious accident while training on Beach Road. Michael was hit by a vehicle and forced in to a parked car. Michael’s neck was broken, resulting in irreversible damage to his cervical spine, leaving him a quadriplegic (paralysed from the chest down). Mike’s injuries mean that he requires ongoing 7-day a week care, and he is unlikely to work again. Michael’s determination and progress since his accident have been truly inspirational. His ambition is to gain enough independence to return home and spend quality time with his wife and 3 year old daughter. Melbourne’s cycling community and community in general are pulling together to raise funds for Michael and his family. Friends have established a website www.michaelforbes.org, where you can read of his progress and make fully tax deductible donations. Michael, Monica and Ashley thank you for your support. |
