Bike Service, Safety and Ethics
Bike ServiceYour bicycle must be roadworthy. It is important that you take responsibility to ensure all items are in good working order. SuperSprint recommend that your bike is serviced prior to the event and that you carry spare tubes, patch kit, tyre levers and a pump. CBD Cycles are the official bike shop for the event. Bike Safety & EthicsWhen you ride as a group, your conduct will directly affect the flow of the group on the road. Riding in a group such as this will have a mix of experienced riders, and those who have not fully developed their pack riding skills. It is important to recognise which category of rider you fit into, and act accordingly.
Below are a number of key points to be aware of throughout the ride:
Ambulance & Insurance Cover
Ambulance CoverSuperSprint contract Ambulance Victoria to provide paramedic and ambulance support on course - three will be in attendance. Mobile Medical support will also be on course, including Doctors, Sports Trainers, Paramedics and a Medical Support Vehicle. It is strongly recommended that participants have ambulance cover – ambulances will be in attendance at the event, however if you require transport by ambulance you will be charged for this service InsuranceThe Degani Kinglake Ride 2009 is covered by public liability insurance but this does not cover accidents caused by individuals or other riders. It is therefore strongly recommended that you have personal accident insurance (Cycling Australia, Bicycle Australia, Triathlon Australia) or medical cover along with ambulance cover, or a suitable level of health insurance. |
Ride Rebuild Revive
All riders entering the 2009 Degani Kinglake Ride will have the opportunity to raise funds for CFA Volunteer Leadership and Training programs so that they can continue to assist those affected by the bushfires in the Kinglake region. Details regarding the fundraising execution for participants will be confirmed in detail in personalised emails within the next month, as well as information posted on the website. The CFA will also be volunteering their time at Refreshment Stations on course and the Finish area - so don't forget to carry some spare change in your pockets to pop in their tins! |
